Day two of the riveting 2025 International Moth World Championship set at the picturesque Lake Garda in Italy, began with a surge of optimism. As the cogs of the clock hit 10:00 a.m., an encouraging southerly breeze steadily unfolded over the lake’s canvas, foreshadowing a promising day of full-on aquatic action.

However, the racing world is at the mercy of the elements. The wind, a friend and foe of the sailor, gave the fleet a teasing twist. At about 1:00 p.m., the anticipated first warning signal was hampered by unexpectedly shifting winds. The wind strength resumed to a lukewarm 5-6 knots, continuing to dampen as the day wore on, putting a halt to the water dance for the hopeful teams.
