Imagine drawing an arc from Gocek in Turkey, through Sardinia, landing in Gibraltar. This arbitrary line outlines the Mediterranean’s prime cruising grounds, a sprawling expanse over 2,000 nautical miles. These waters, annually awash with thousands of superyachts, guests, and crew, form the backdrop to a lifestyle of adventure and luxury. However, with forecasts suggesting an additional 3,400 superyachts by 2035, these idyllic waters could soon face a tidal wave of infrastructure pressures and overpopulation.
Indeed, shipyard new builds and supply chains are relishing the potential advanced orders, but the infrastructure and service networks are far from celebrating. Picture a majestic arc stretching from Gocek in Turkey through the vibrant heart of Sardinia, and finally culminating at the gateway to the Atlantic, Gibraltar.
