In the glittering world of superyachts, luxury often overshadows the practicalities of sailing. However, behind the idyllic scenes of majestic yachts anchored peacefully in azure waters, safety procedures are of paramount importance. This importance is highlighted in a recent incident report which details a near-collision of two superyachts, caused by a wind shift that led to their overlapping swinging circles. One of the vessels managed to start its engines and attempt to manoeuvre away from the impending nautical disaster. Alas, the contact was inevitable. Interestingly, the second vessel’s response came only after the collision, due to an unmanned bridge. Despite the lack of immediate human intervention, the damage was mercifully minimal.
