Bauza and Pillain Celebrate Successful End to Transat Café L'or Sailing Race
Aina Bauza of Mallorca and her French counterpart Axelle Pillain have set a considerable standard in their maiden voyage at the Transat Café L’or sailing event. Backed by the ENGIE talent programme as recipients of the Cap pour Elles award, these sailors painted the waters with youthful vigor, crossing the turbulent Atlantic with a combination of tenacity and resilience, amid abounding elements of surprise that the sea had in store.
Covering the raging distance between Normandie and Le Havre, the duo completed the venture in a formidable 21 days, 10 hours, 28 minutes, and 45 seconds. Their journey wasn’t just notable for its result, but also for the experience imprinted upon their hearts. Enappled by an overwhelming sensation of awe, the sailors admit to being hard-pressed to recall the beginning of the race, overshadowed by the buoying sense of achievement.
Bauza and Pillain weathered through the storms, gradually finding their rhythm in the rhythm of the waters. Their decision to take the southern route was considered and human, knowing well the boat’s capability and their own limits. Trade winds in their favor, they continued their journey, filled with moments of support and camaraderie.
As they grew accustomed to the mighty ocean’s ebb and flow, they found more than just their seafaring feet. The journey afforded an opportunity to journey within oneself, learning more about one another, and developing an exceptional bond.
