A Riveting Day of Racing at ILCA 4 Youth European Championships 2025 in Puck, Poland

Day 2 of the ILCA 4 Youth European Championships 2025 in Puck, Poland delivered an exhilarating race, filled with drama, triumphs and nail-biting moments.

The second day of the ILCA 4 Youth European Championships brought with it an array of surprising twists, turns, and triumphs in Puck, Poland. With over 440 young sailors partaking, the Championship harboured a sense of charming enthusiasm and fierce competition.\ The day commenced as per schedule, with the first warning signal given at precisely 11 a.m. in both race areas. Moderate winds, averaging 14 knots but occasionally gusting beyond 20 knots, marked the day with challenging conditions. A light drizzle blessed the race’s onset, which soon yielded to a partially cloudy sky, setting a picturesque backdrop to the fierce competition.\ Completing two scheduled races spanning seven fleets, the participants returned to shore for rest, debriefing, and to savour a well-deserved meal. The provisional results for the day showed some spectacular performances across different categories which promises an exciting closing day of qualifying.\ This event has been record breaking in terms of participation with 440 entrants hailing from a whopping 41 nations. In terms of organisation, the Championship was professionally conjured by Team Poland under the aegis of Polish ILCA Class Association, Polish Yachting Association, and EurILCA. It was graciously hosted by the City of Puck, along with Marina Puck and Invest Puck Sp. z o.o.\ Behind this smoothly conducted event were the efforts of many sponsors and patrons. Event collaborators included Devoti Sailing, Raiffeisen Bank, Best, ING for Children Foundation, amongst others and was co-financed by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Pomeranian Voivodeship’s Marshal’s Office.\ As the competition enters its third day, the participants and spectators alike are palpably excited for what the next day holds. No matter the results, all sailors deserve commendation for their passion and skills; their dedication to the sport is dazzling. We may yet witness the birth of future sailing legends in the making.
