Olympic Silver Medalist's Team Takes the Lead in Day 5 of Long Beach 2025 Olympic Regatta

On the fifth day of the 2025 Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta, it was the Swedish team that managed to make waves, quite literally.

Under the Californian sun, waves lapped at the sides of yachts, and wind gusts reached up to 18 knots. The 2025 Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta was in full swing, and what glorious conditions they were. Tight races were anticipated as the offshore breeze heralded what is known as ‘classic Long Beach conditions’.

Amongst the fleet, the 49er FX class was pegged as the ones to watch, their competitive spirit is like none other. The Swedish team, Vilma Bobeck and Ebba Berntsson, stole the limelight. Vilma, an Olympic silver medalist and world-class helm, helmed Sweden’s America’s Cup team, making her an intimidating opponent. On the other hand, Ebba, a rising star in the FX sailing realm, has been gaining experience at top-tier regattas. These two, when combined, made for an electrifying sailing spectacle.

As each team strained to outdo the other, the jury had their work cut out handling the numerous protests. But it was all in a day’s work. While the 49er competitors from varying experience spectrum engaged in their friendly wars, the Swedish team stayed steady on their course.
