Thrilling Two-day Rooster ILCA 6 National Open Event at Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy Dazzles Crowd

Rooster ILCA 6 National Open event culminated an action-packed two-day sailing spectacle at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, attracting international participants.

It was an enthralling sight as nearly 186 sailboats from various countries swarmed the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy for the Rooster ILCA 6 National Open event. The spirits were palpable as participants including half a dozen Irishmen and entries from France, Bermuda, and the Bahamas added to the International flavour of the contest.

The event faced some initial challenges due to a light forecast. However, the efficient race director, James Hynes, and the unwavering support of 60 volunteers ensured a flawless schedule of races over the weekend. The intense competition kept all on tenterhooks as the podium placements swung to the last wire.

Despite the tumultuous waves, challenges, and unexpected conditions, the sailors kept their spirits high. In the end, it was a thrilling weekend of sailing that brought racers from across the globe together. The adrenalin-filled event also provided crucial experience for sailors like Carys Attwell in advancing their skills before their upcoming Under 21 world championship.

Looking forwards, the buzz continues with National Open 5 scheduled at WPNSA, followed by Masters Inland Championships at Grafham Water and National Inland Championships at Draycote Water.
