The 14th Clipper Round the World Yacht Race Begins, Marking a Historic Moment in Sailing Sport

A resounding testament to human tenacity, the 14th edition of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race recently launched in Portsmouth, UK. The fleet of ten identical 70ft racing yachts embarked on a global journey across 40,000nm. This substantial endurance trial around the world spans eleven months and is championed by twenty sailing professionals. These professionals lead their team of non-professional sailors through the trials and tribulations of the open sea.

The initial stretch of the circuit is a seemingly short 1275nm race to Puerto Sherry, Spain. However, with high winds and the dreaded Bay of Biscay’s to contend with, the crews are in for a challenging start. The race director anticipates the teams will complete this first race within six to eight days, given the tough upwind conditions in the English Channel and into the Bay of Biscay.

An adrenaline-driven adventure awaits every participant, as they will endure through various harsh conditions, including hurricane force winds, infernal heat, and the seclusion of the world’s oceans.
