Cascais, Portugal, is proving to be a sailor's utopia as it hosts the iconic 2025 Finn Gold Cup, offering exceptional conditions and thrilling race days.

The 2025 Finn Gold Cup has debuted in Cascais, Portugal, and even the most seasoned sailors are being treated to a dreamlike experience. Counting over 80 participants from 20 countries worldwide, the Gold Cup promises a higher level of challenge and competition. As the sailing fraternity gathers, they find themselves greeted by extraordinary conditions: strong winds, sun-soaked warmth, and an ocean as big as their ambitions.

During a practice race held in the afternoon, sailors experienced 10-15 knots and enormous waves, offering a tantalising glimpse of the excitement to come. As the week progresses, conditions are expected to fluctuate from light to moderate, amounting to a fitting contest for one of the most cherished trophies in the sailing world.

Adding to the spectacle was an awe-inspiring opening ceremony held on the deck of the Clube Naval de Cascais. Setting the charge for the upcoming race days, sailors shared sentiments and anticipations, projecting a ‘brutal week’. Other notable players include Deniss Karpak from Estonia, Italy’s Arkadii Kistanov, and Valerian Lebrun from France.

On day three, the competition heat was dialled up a notch. Karpak reclaimed the lead after three challenging wind races. The defending champion, however, wasn’t far behind; Muhonen clinched the opening race and kept up his exceptional form in the second race, showing off some phenomenal downwind speed.
