The 12th round of the I.O.M Winter Series proved to be a brisk and exciting day of competition at the Lincoln Radio Sailing Club.

The adrenaline was palpable at Lincoln Radio Sailing Club as contenders took to the frost-bitten course for the 12th round of the I.O.M Winter Series. The day was marked with a firm breeze blowing straight down the lake, and delivered a series of thrilling races that left the 18 brave skippers smiling from ear to ear.

Before the start line tension mounted. With the strengthening breeze, the choice was clear: let fly with the A rig or play it safe with the B rig? A few daring souls went with the A rig, and boy, were they right. The visitor from Birkenhead, Robby Mac, soared to a victory with his Venti, and the top three spots in the first race were all claimed by A rigs, including Rob Radbourne and his Proteus.

Darin B with his Brit Pop, managed to clinch both the second and third race. Other contenders like Tim H and Rob W had a tough day on the waves, while Roger C’s performance with his Venti improved as the day went on.

Beyond individual achievements, the day distinctly stood out for the fierce and electrifying races that unfolded. There were moments when the wind gods seemed to test the mettle of each competitor, with gusty winds whirling down the course, causing wipeouts and generating sizeable waves. Still, the spirit of competition was undeterred, with local battles and visitor victories adding sparks to the already exhilarating day.

Among the skippers were several former dinghy sailors who can attest to the thrill and engagement of radio sailing on such a challenging day, making it a perfect advertisement for the sport.
