Sailor Ambrogio Beccaria, with Mapei, Takes Collective Strength into Prestigious IMOCA and The Ocean Race Europe
In a significant shift in his sailing career, one of the undisputed stalwarts of Class40, Milanese sailor Ambrogio Beccaria, is ready to transition to the challenging world of International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA) races. His long-standing collaboration with partner Mapei is set to move into the next gear. This summer, the skipper will commandeer a 60-foot foiling monohull, the Allagrande Mapei, for the first time. He embarks on a thrilling and prestigious journey - participating in The Ocean Race Europe.
Beccaria’s maiden voyage as the skipper of Allagrande Mapei begins in mid-July, quickly leading to a demanding challenge at The Ocean Race Europe, a prominent event in the IMOCA 2025 circuit. This race encompasses five culturally rich and geographically diverse stages, commencing from Kiel, Germany and concluding at Boka Bay, Montenegro.
While the course itself poses numerous strategic complications, Beccaria also anticipates rigorous competition. In the face of formidable opponents, who wield extensive sailing credentials, his team must quickly grasp their new environment, learn from the competition, and manage the diverse sailing conditions presented by this versatile European course. Their strategy relies on leveraging collective strength and maintaining the momentum to ensure a robust performance throughout the season.
