Vitters Shipyard on the Verge of Making History with the In-Build 63m Sailing Yacht, Project Dreamer

Dutch yacht manufacturer, Vitters, offers a detailed update on their ambitious 63-meter sloop sailing yacht, Project Dreamer.

Vitters Shipyard, the famed Dutch yacht manufacturer, recently shared encouraging progress on their custom-built 63-meter sloop sailing yacht, Project Dreamer. The sailboat, which began its construction journey in Zwartsluis, the Netherlands, is six months into its initial keel laying ceremony. With an intricately designed aluminium structure, the build now stands well on its way to completion.

Owner aspirations were ambitious but clear-cut: to craft the most significant flybridge yacht possible, whilst remaining under the monolithic 500GT. The demand for a complex and sizeable build has necessitated the division of the project into several sections which were meticulously constructed in an unconventional upside-down fashion. The critical milestone set for later this year involves turning the hull of the vessel.

While exterior design details remain limited, we know that the yacht features a ‘clean, timeless’ aesthetic, courtesy of Malcolm McKeon, a renowned yacht designer. The design includes features such as a radiused transom, a sprawling flybridge, and a fold-down hull door for effortless water toy deployment.

Collaborative efforts remain at the heart of Dreamer’s build. With Vitters Shipyard and Monks Large Yacht Consultancy uniting their expertise, the marvel of Project Dreamer is rapidly transitioning from bold concept to sailing reality.

As construction continues apace, Vitters raises the bar for what is feasible in yacht design. With the final delivery due in 2028, the yachting world waits eagerly for the day it can witness this extraordinary floating masterpiece in all its glory.
