The Amels 80 Series Continues with Project Zurich Embarking on Sea Trials

In the world of luxury seafaring vehicles, Project Zurich is setting sails and turning heads. The third unit from Damen Yachting’s applauded Amels 80 series, this stunning superyacht, recently embarked on its sea trials after launching at the second build facility in Vlissingen East earlier this year.

The 79.8-metre new-build quickly moved onto Damen Yachting’s main headquarters in Vlissingen City for final outfitting. The luxury seafarer is expected to be ready for delivery later this year, swiftly after its initial unveiling just a few months ago in March 2022. Project Zurich’s quick turnaround and progress can be credited to the highly skilled teams working tirelessly on the vessel.

One can’t discuss Project Zurich without mentioning the exemplary onboard amenities. The 2,175GT superyacht inculcates splendid attractions like a sundeck sprawling over 200-square-metres. The substantially sized jacuzzi only adds to the ambiance. The owner’s dedicated deck and foredeck helipad add an extra layer of luxury.

Moreover, the beach club acts as a comprehensive waterfront lounge, embracing the open sea with terraces on three sides. It also offers direct access to a gym, hammam, and sauna. As if these offerings weren’t enough, the space is illuminated by the 6.5-metre, glass-bottomed pool of the main aft deck.

The interior design team’s identity remains a secret, but their skill is evident in the “bright [and] custom” design theme, setting it apart from the predecessors in the series. This yacht is constructed to house 14 guests in seven cabins and 21 crew members comfortably, accommodating vast storage for toys and tenders. The watercraft was first spotted on its way to outfitting in January 2025, and it has been a sight to see ever since.

As expressed by Damen Yachting project manager Sander Peeters, coordinating such a large-scale project calls for meticulous planning, craftsmanship, and teamwork. With the final stages of delivery on the horizon, an adamant sense of precision and focus is imminent.

Presently, Damen Yachting’s plate is full with seven active Amels yacht constructions, including five from the Amels 80 series, making the anticipation for Project Zurich’s completion even more thrilling. As the superyacht market delivers more sophisticated, detailed, and sizable vessels, the seas are sure to witness some spectacular sights.
