Mark Your Calendar for the 21st Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Harbour Regatta 2026: Action-Packed Weekend Unfolds!
The 21st Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Harbour Regatta, set to take place on 7 and 8 March 2026, is a much anticipated event that combines the excitement of competitive sailing with the vibrancy of Sydney’s harbour. This regatta, the largest of its kind in New South Wales, continues to draw sailing enthusiasts and competitors from both NSW and interstate.
A particularly special highlight of this 2026 edition is the newest addition- the Super Cruiser Racer Group, which will be featuring remarkable yachts like Caol Ila, Odin, Xanthus, Triton, Antipodes, Sydney, and Shearwater. These behemoths of the sea are set to intensify the competition and elevate the spectacle, with the first day featuring two inshore-offshore races tailored for them, and an offshore passage race in store for the closing day, in conjunction with the Super 50 fleet.
The Sydney 38 class, continuing its tradition, will engage in the NSW Championship, bringing power-packed performance and tactical ruling through offshore windward/leeward races on the opening day, and three inshore windward/leewards on the second. After a roller-coaster of victories amongst Conspiracy, Challenge, Mondo and Gusto in recent years, expectations are high to see who finally clinches the anticipated confrontations.
Also featuring in the regatta lineup is the Fareast 28R Australian Championship, the Super 30 Cup, the Cavalier 28 NSW Championship, and of course, the classic one-design classes in the Etchells, J/70, J/24, Adams 10, VX-One and Super 40 (MC38s and others of that ilk). The regatta also features an Open Class (IRC and ORC), a Performance Class (with Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker divisions), Classic Keelboats, and the Historic 18’ Skiffs.
With a massive fleet expected, courtesy of the Middle Harbour Yacht Club (MHYC) and eight supporting clubs, the regatta promises to be an exciting venture. The racing spectacle will be split over seven course areas, under the watchful gaze of Principal Race Officer, Denis Thompson and a crew of passionate volunteers.
Unfolding over two days and featuring an array of fierce competitions, the Sydney Harbour Regatta is set to provide an unforgettable 21st celebration that will captivate sailors and spectators alike.
