Steeler Yachts Hits the Waves with a Second Unit from Their Impressive Ocean Explorer 85 Yacht Series: Meet Moss

The Dutch shipyard Steeler Yachts unveils its latest manifestation of marine ingenuity–the Moss. This second yacht of its innovative Ocean Explorer 85 series is all set to embark on a fascinating voyage, proving once again the inimitable capabilities of the distinguished boat-maker.

Gently skimming the waters near the Steeler’s facilities in Meppel, in the Netherlands, Moss anticipates a round of sea trials before marking its unstoppable presence in the world’s seascapes. Its scheduled delivery soon follows, the next adventure being a maiden voyage to the Indian Ocean.

Steeler Yachts penchant for close collaboration with yacht owners was pivotal in fashioning Moss’ signature style. Devised for ‘hands-on, long-distance cruising’, Moss personifies adventure on the open seas. The yacht’s owner, who also serves as its captain, played a significant role in curating its bespoke design—each element symbolising a rendezvous of luxury and functionality. The full custom 148GT interior, masterminded by revered designer Kees Marcelis, fosters an ambiance of comfort for extended time spent on the open water. Moss can comfortably accommodate up to six guests across its three cabins in addition to providing quarters for a crew of two.

The launch came closely on the heels of the groundbreaking transatlantic crossing by Ocean Explorer 72 Two Bubbles. Having completed the voyage with flying colours, it exemplified the Ocean Explorer line’s prowess for both offshore and long-distance cruising. The Ocean Explorer catalogue thus flaunts three new builds to its credit, with an additional Ocean Explorer 72 in commission.

The new Moss boasts an impressive beam measuring 6.6 metres with a shallow draft of 1.7 metres. In compliance with CE-A standards, Moss meets the Malta sCYC 2024 flag requirements for an unrestricted navigation notation.

This second unit of the Ocean Explorer 85 series, with its trailblazing design and formidable functionality, not only furthers Steeler’s Yachts esteemed legacy but takes it to a stellar new level by redefining luxurious long-distance cruising.
