The world-renowned sailor, Olympic gold medalist Iain Jensen, has signed to join Emirates Team New Zealand.

Adding a hefty dose of star power to its sailing roster, Emirates Team New Zealand welcomes the addition of esteemed Australian sailor, Iain Jensen. Widely celebrated for his phenomenal feats in the sailing realm, Jensen clinches not only a 2012 Olympic Gold Medal but also an illustrious career in SailGP.

Currently, he serves as the Wing Trimmer for Bonds Flying Roos, the Australian team that has snagged victories in three SailGP Grand Finals. Even a knee injury suffered during training at the Oracle Perth SailGP event couldn’t dampen his spirit and vigor for the sport.

In a fascinating twist of fate, they also worked as training partners for the New Zealand duo of Pete Burling and Blair Tuke. The pair, eminent in their own right, cinched the silver medal in the Two man Skiff event in Weymouth. The tables would turn in the 2016 Olympics, where Burling and Tuke snatched the gold, relegating Jensen and Outteridge to silver in the same class event at Rio de Janeiro.

The addition of Jensen to Emirates Team NZ not only reinforces the team’s robust lineup but also cements its ambition to chisel its name into the annals of sailing history. His skills have already begun to enhance the team, as he has sailed with the New Zealand squad in AC40s this week.

Undeniably, Jensen’s inclusion will strengthen the Kiwi team’s competitiveness, fortifying their shot at the America’s Cup, and likely making their competitors quiver in their sea boots. The sea may be the setting, but the game, it seems, is just as much about strategy, strength, and a splash of luck. It’s about to get even more exciting offshore, folks. Hold on tight!
