Join us as we recount the jubilant 70th-anniversary celebrations of the Chase Sailing Club, marked by camaraderie, merriment, and unwavering dedication.

The year 2025 stands out as a historic chapter in the Chase Sailing Club’s illustrious history. It saw the Club mark its grand 70-year anniversary, a milestone that was honoured and celebrated thanks to the diligent planning, support, and tireless efforts of an exceptional committee. Truly, the year’s achievements were an all-hands-on-deck affair, reflecting the spirit of teamwork that lies at the heart of sailing.

The Club inaugurated its celebration year by laying out carefully crafted plans aimed at celebrating its storied past, vibrant present, and promising future. The ensuing months were marked by spirited debates and in-depth discussions, and it was with the members at the very heart of these deliberations that an action plan was conceived.

April saw the club host a unique event, Around the World in 6 Wines, where members indulged their senses by sampling a range of wines hailing from various corners of the world. It was an enlightening blend of fun and learning that left members eager for a repeat event in 2026.

In addition, the club’s annual Prize Giving proved to be a harmonious occasion serving to recognise and honour the sterling achievements of its sailors across the season, thereby infusing a sense of pride and achievement amongst all members.

Despite a few hiccups along the way, such as the unfortunate cancellation of the GP14 Midland Area Championships due to a lack of necessary participants, the Club’s spirit remained undeterred. The 70th birthday was aptly marked by a major celebration weekend, which included the Stu Green Sprint Championships, and a 70’s inspired fancy dress buffet and disco. It was an evening that truly encapsulated the spirit of the Club – jubilant, nostalgic, and forward looking, brimming with camaraderie and shared love for the sea.
