Yacht Club of Greece (Nautical Club of Greece)

Club information

  • Country: Greece
  • Town/City: Athens

Perched above the picturesque harbour of Mikrolimano in Piraeus, the Yacht Club of Greece (in Greek: Nautikos Omilos Ellados, often abbreviated as NOE) is the country’s most prestigious and historic sailing institution. Founded in 1933, the club has played a central role in the development of Greek competitive sailing, the promotion of maritime traditions, and the hosting of elite regattas both nationally and internationally.

Overlooking the Saronic Gulf with panoramic views across to the islands of Aegina and Salamis, the Yacht Club of Greece combines nautical heritage with an air of quiet elegance. It has become a vital part of Greece’s maritime identity, supporting Olympic-level athletes, offshore cruising, and vibrant sailing education programs.

Facilities for Visiting Sailors

The Yacht Club of Greece is known not only for its sailing excellence but also for its refined hospitality and well-maintained facilities, many of which are available to visiting yachtsmen with prior arrangement or through reciprocal yacht club agreements.

Berthing: While NOE itself does not operate a full-service marina, visiting members and guests are typically offered berthing assistance nearby at Microlimano Marina or Flisvos Marina, both within a short sailing or taxi distance. Private tender docking is sometimes available for smaller boats or VIP guests.

Clubhouse & Dining: The historic clubhouse is perched on a hill overlooking the marina and features elegant lounges, terraces, and a fine dining restaurant serving Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. The setting is ideal for socialising, formal dinners, or simply enjoying a sunset over the Aegean.

Events & Regattas: NOE hosts prestigious events such as the Rodos Cup, Poseidonion Grand Prix, and the renowned Aegean Rally—a multi-leg offshore race through the Greek islands that draws competitors from around the world.

Sailing School: The club offers youth and adult sailing programs, from beginner dinghy courses to advanced keelboat training. It has produced several Olympic sailors and national champions.

Social Facilities: Members and guests have access to beautifully maintained gardens, private meeting rooms, a bar, and social spaces for lectures, award ceremonies, and receptions.

Library & Archives: The club maintains an important nautical library and archive, preserving the maritime heritage of Greece and honouring historic voyages and achievements.

Crew Assistance & Concierge: For visiting crews and sailors, NOE provides access to concierge services, local provisioning, transportation, and sailing logistics, typically via their events office or through personal introductions.
