Perched on the eastern bank of the River Hamble where it meets Southampton Water, Warsash Sailing Club (WSC) is a thriving community of sailors, racers, and cruisers with a distinctly friendly and volunteer-led ethos. Established in 1957, the club has become one of the South Coast’s most active and respected amateur sailing organisations, attracting a dedicated membership who value great sailing, a cooperative spirit, and a hands-on approach.

The club has two main sites: Shore House, which serves as the social and administrative hub, and Lobster Quay, which provides extensive dinghy and keelboat storage, launching slips, and access to pontoons and moorings. This dual-site arrangement gives members flexible access to river and Solent sailing, suitable for everyone from solo dinghy sailors to IRC racers.

Warsash Sailing Club is particularly renowned for organising the Spring Series, one of the Solent’s premier race series, which draws competitors from across the region for professionally run, highly competitive keelboat racing. The club also runs evening racing, double-handed events, and a winter series, maintaining year-round activity for both serious and recreational sailors.

WSC is deeply committed to encouraging participation across generations. Its youth sailing programme is strong, with training courses, cadet sailing sessions, and junior regattas running throughout the season. The club is an RYA-affiliated training centre and also supports members who wish to become instructors or race officers.

The social calendar is equally busy, with everything from quiz nights and talks to regatta dinners and summer barbecues. The clubhouse’s riverside terrace and bar make it an inviting place for post-race relaxation or family gatherings.
