Royal Lymington Yacht Club (RLymYC)

Nestled at the mouth of the Lymington River in Hampshire, the Royal Lymington Yacht Club (RLymYC) has long been a beacon of British sailing heritage and excellence. Founded in 1922 and granted its royal warrant in 1938, RLymYC is not only rich in tradition but is also a hub of modern sailing innovation and vibrant community spirit. Its unique waterfront clubhouse enjoys uninterrupted views of the Solent, making it one of the most enviable locations on the south coast.

RLymYC is renowned for its inclusive approach, welcoming members across all ages and skill levels. From Olympic hopefuls to weekend cruisers, it supports a wide variety of disciplines, including dinghy sailing, keelboat racing, cruising, and junior training. The club has a strong record of nurturing talent, with a Youth and Juniors program that is considered among the best in the UK. Regular races are held throughout the year, including prestigious events such as the Lymington XOD Week and the Solent Series.

The club’s facilities are outstanding. Members enjoy a spacious clubhouse with a members’ bar, lounge and a panoramic terrace overlooking the river. There are excellent changing rooms, a waterside platform for dinghy launching, and secure boat storage. The club works in close cooperation with Berthon Marina, giving easy access to berthing and servicing. RLymYC also offers RYA-certified training programs for both children and adults.

Social events are integral to the RLymYC calendar, ranging from formal regattas and dinners to informal BBQs and speaker evenings. The club’s welcoming ethos and high-quality amenities have made it a cornerstone of the Solent sailing scene.

Whether you’re a seasoned racer or new to sailing, RLymYC provides a fantastic base from which to enjoy everything the Solent has to offer.
