Unveiling of the Grand Banks 54 at Southampton Show: Small Cruiser, Big Capabilities

Published: 09 Sep 2025
The smallest traditional Grand Banks cruiser, the Grand Banks 54, is set to debut at this year's Southampton Boat Show.

The stage is set at the Southampton Boat Show, as Grand Banks readies to take the covers off its most compact traditional cruiser yet: the Grand Banks 54. Don’t be fooled by its relative diminutive stature compared to the broader fleet – this cruiser offers capabilities that belie its size. Clocking in around 60ft in length, the Grand Banks 54 sports a gracefully curved sheer line, a slender and elongated bow, a sheltered aft cockpit, wide side decks for easy walkaround, and deep, secure bulwarks. The Category A cruiser is equipped with a not insubstantial 3,500-litre fuel tank as standard and its hull design is built to cope with even the roughest seas.

Versatility also extends into the interior layout. As the only other model outside the Downeaster Series available as a sedan, the Grand Banks 54 offers potential buyers a wealth of choice. Opt for the flybridge variant for elevated views and a galley up top, or keep things traditional with a lower deck twin cabin and a third bunk room offering reduced air draft. The choices continue in the cabin, where boat owners can further break down the guest double for a twin and bunk cabin combination. But if it’s space and luxury you’re after, a two-cabin galley-down setup is also available.

As always with Grand Banks, quality is at the forefront of design. Expect robust and homely vibes throughout the boat thanks to an abundance of fine wood cabinetry, high-end fabrics, and leather trim—all custom finished by their in-house upholstery team. Even the structural integration of the bulkheads and furniture with the hull contribute to an enhanced rigidity.

Such top-end quality does come at a price, which is about triple that of a Swift Trawler 54. However, once you step aboard at the show and take a closer look, it all begins to make sublime sense. This is a boat with a value that considerably transcends its price tag.
