Experience the Thrill of Securing Europe’s First Schaefer V44: A Boating Adventure Shaped by Lifelong Passion
From daydreams of adventures with Jacques Cousteau, to the reality of sailing into the sunset on his very own Schaefer V44, David Ross’s narrative is more than a tale of yacht ownership. It’s intrinsic to his identity, to his deep love for the open ocean that has weathered throughout myriad life tides.
Ross’s nautical journey begins with the acquisition of a Sessa Key Largo 30. Despite its superb seakeeping abilities and the fun it brings, it lacked one crucial element - ample sun protection. With a growing family to consider, Ross moves on to trade the Sessa Key Largo 30 for a handsome Sessa C52, ‘Vamos II.’ Its three cabins, large diesels, and open potential posed it as the perfect family boat. Despite some teething issues, the resilience of Vamos II mirrored Ross’s spirit, leading them on countless picturesque endeavours around Denia and the Balearics.
The sleek design of the Schaefer V44, its futuristic helm station, their promise of quality – everything about it reeled Ross in, hook, line, and sinker. She might not have been everything he was looking for, but the Schaefer V44 sparked an unprecedented excitement in him. Two things powered the final decision - his wife’s absence at the boat show, and an insuppressible desire that was hard to ignore.
Despite her considerable price and deviation from his brief, the Schaefer V44 became the boat Ross really, really wanted – an embodiment of his lifelong dream.
