Witness regatta history unfold when the powerful Svea and newly tweaked Rainbow duel it out in the waters of the Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille.

Two emblematic J Class yachts, the ever-impressive Svea and the freshly spruced Rainbow, are preparing to cross swords at the milestone 30th anniversary of the Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille in June 2026.

Representing Sweden, Svea enters the contest as the stern favourite. This heavyweight of the yacht racing world built an impressive record, notching triple consecutive victories at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup between 2022 and 2024. The team also emerged victorious in the 37th America’s Cup at the J Class Barcelona Regatta in 2024.

The Superyacht Cup represents a new phase for Rainbow and her new owner, Admiral’s Cup victor Peter Harrison. The event marks Rainbow’s first competitive race under the helm of Harrison, the CEO of Richard Mille EMEA. Richard Mille EMEA recently formed a three-year alliance with the Regatta, bolstering its position as Europe’s longest-standing Superyacht Regatta.

Rainbow’s Captain, Mat Sweetman, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming contest, while emphasising the importance of preparation and reliability. The crew will conduct a comprehensive workout of the yacht’s performance and systems before the race.

Svea will introduce new tactician, Tony Rey to the season’s regattas. Rey, based in Newport, is a veteran in globe-spanning yacht races and has prior experience with J-Class yachts. It all makes for a regatta event to remember, as these sailing giants get set for a battle on the blue.
