The 2026 sailing calendar sees intense competition as the Jack Turner Trophy sailed at Birkenhead and the Henri-Lloyd Warsash Spring Championship in Warsash showcase incredible talents.

The 2026 sailing season roars to life with the thrilling Jack Turner Trophy IOM Open at Birkenhead Radio Sailing & Power Club and the Henri-Lloyd Warsash Spring Championship. Seventeen sailors turned out for the second annual Jack Turner Trophy, greeted by a westerly breeze and intermittent sunshine. The early successes saw Robbie Mac, Paul Plested, and Graham Elliott leading the pack, while later victories belonged to Brad Gibson and Roger Crates.

A diverse event, the Jack Turner Trophy was not only about the racing. Sailors, spectators, and organizers alike enjoyed a variety of cakes and biscuits — mostly homemade — with complimentary tea and coffee in between the sprints. Thus, the event blended the competitive spirit of sailors with the cordiality of a community brought together by their shared love for the sea.

At both events, conditions varied wildly, even forcing competitors on occasion to retreat to the clubhouse when gusts became ruthless, but in the ever-shifting panorama of sailing, this is part and parcel of the excitement. In sailing, as in life, one must keep course, adjusting sails as winds dictate. This enduring lesson is beautifully underscored by the athleticism, grace, and resilience displayed across both championships.

In navigating the unpredictability of the open waters, both the Jack Turner Trophy and the Henri-Lloyd Warsash Championship have encapsulated the joy of being on the water and the thrill of competition. The victories celebrated, the friendships forged, and the stories shared have certainly set the pace for a thrilling 2026 sailing season.
