The long-anticipated return of the Macnamara's Bowl will see elite female sailors from around the globe set sail on a historic regatta once more.

In a momentous display of vigor and versatility, the Macnamara’s Bowl relaunches after more than three decades of abstinence, boasting a star-studded lineup of women sailors. Renowned competitors included Charlotte Borghesi, the first female to claim victory at the SB20 World Championship, on top of Vita Heathcote, the 420 World Champion recognized internationally. They share the spotlight with Phoebe Chalmers, the North American WASZP champion, and Emma McEwen, a multi-title holder in the sailing world.

Swapping tales of yore with cutting-edge athletic prowess, the competition showcases 11 club teams from all over the world in a series of races at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club. Included in the lineup are budding youth teams from Kingston Yacht Club, putting enthusiasm, vitality, and potential at the heart of this regatta revival.

The RS21 keelboat, supplied by RS Sailing, is the vessel of choice for this nautical challenge where skill, teamwork, and tactical execution reward the victors. Regattas like Macnamara’s Bowl serve to refocus attention on the richness and caliber of sailing prowess this class of competition can offer.

The weekend kicks off with an induction training day, a series of seven race sessions, and an optimistic forecast for some premier Solent racing. This event, however, transcends the limits of competition. It stands as a testament to the persistent women who have left indelible marks on the sport of sailing, chronicling the voyage from the original crews of the 1970s to today’s global competitors.
