A Riveting Race Awaited as Seasoned Pros and Fresh Faces Gear Up for the 57th La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec
In a mere two days, 36 sailors, both women and men, will embark on the 57th edition of the sailing spectacle, La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec. The 2027 season opens with breathtaking scenery and an early start, as anxious participants fill the docks of Perros-Guirec, ready to set sail for Vigo, Spain. They respond enthusiastically to the call of the sea, the thrill of the race, and the lure of the legendary competition. The contest this year also invites an array of rookies who add an adventurous spirit to the competition, matched against the perseverance of the returning veterans. This delightful mix guarantees spectacular battles across all three stages, adding to the race lore. The core of this year’s fleet consists of a mix of sprightly and seasoned sailors, prepped for the battle of the seas. Challenging them are four formidable frontrunners: Lois Berrehar (Banque Populaire), Adrien Hardy (Sans Nature, pas de futur!), Nicolas Lunven (PRB), and last minute entrant Martin Le Pape (Paprec), stepping in for the sidelined Yoann Richomme. The fleet boasts enriched experience with the return of these stalwarts. Collectively, they’ve entered the La Solitaire race 38 times. Only Lunven has tasted victory twice, in 2009 and 2017, and also won the Rookie of the Year award in his 2007 debut race. ‘The timing was perfect for my return. The Figaro Bénéteau 3 is new to me. Quite different from the Figaro 2 on which I won. I still feel passionately for the class and truly relish this circuit. I return to enjoy and give it my all,’ says Nicolas Lunven, brimming with anticipation for this exciting race.
