Hellenic Match Racing Tour 2025: An Unforgettable Extravaganza Showcased on Greek Shores

The Hellenic Match Racing Tour (HMRT) 2025 stormed into a flourishing epoch, unveiling an enhanced circuit full of vigour and international flair. The much-anticipated event, situated in the charming port city of Piraeus, Greece, welcomed numerous international teams to engage in an extravaganza of match racing skills. Cigarrán Sailing Team, hailing from the enchanting lands of Galicia and the only foreign team invited, was a notable participant.

Orchestrated by Yacht Club Greece, this event was backed by the country’s finest sailors such as Kaldis, Papageorgiou, and Tripodis. The competition kicked off on February 14, 2025, under picture-perfect conditions - a calm sea, suave temperature, and south-westerly winds of 8 to 10 knots. The competitors took to the ‘Yngling’, a robust racing boat, at once a delight and challenge for sailors due its limited visibility, great inertia, and little sail.
