Securing Triumph Amidst Stunning Weather and Challenging Conditions at Bacardi Winter Series
The second event of the Bacardi Winter Series unfurled an unforgettable spectacle from January 24 to 26, 2025. Sailing enthusiasts witnessed three exhilarating days on Biscayne Bay, the stage meticulously poised to host the riveting competition. Miami’s radiant weather and challenging conditions tested every performance nuance, pushing sailors to their absolute zenith. As proceedings culminated on a sunny, final day, three decisive races carved the event’s victors amidst fluctuating 11-18 knot north-easterly knot breezes.
Emerging victorious from the fierce competition, Peter Duncan and his formidable two-time J/70 World Champion-winning team on ‘Relative Obscurity’, secured the sought-after J/70 series. Their consistency paid, as they continued their pole position domination from the inaugural day. Meanwhile, the ‘Nefeli’ team, under the aegis of Peter-David Karrié, advanced to secure a win in the Melges 24.
The second Bacardi Winter Series event culminated in the usual grand Bacardi style. The epic soirée and prize-giving celebration were held at Miami’s Shake-A-Leg, a venue now synonymous with maritime triumphs. Adding to the suspense, J/70 and Melges 24 teams will incorporate their points from this event into their results at the Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta (BCIR) to determine the overall series winner. The stage is set, the sailors poised, and the world watches as the saga of skill, strategy, and domination on the waters prepare for its next chapter.
