Online Tracking Technology Breaks Waves at the Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja Children's Regatta
The Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja Children’s Sailing Regatta is setting the bar high within the competitive sailing scene. This well-renowned event is taking a quantum leap with a major technological partnership. They’ve recently teamed up with TracTrac, an online positioning company, to bring live tracking to the event’s races for this edition and the following two. This mover-and-shaker approach places the regatta as the first of its kind to incorporate such technology at a national level.
This impactful upgrade is being introduced with less than three weeks to the official kick-off, slated from January 30th to February 2nd. The prestigious regatta, sponsored by Euromarina and organized by the Real Club Nautico de Torrevieja, will feature 430 sailors from 29 countries, including an intriguing entrant from Central Asia: Tajikistan.
As much as the competition is fierce and immersive, the social component of the event isn’t overshadowed. A highlight includes a remarkable ‘Welcome Party’ set for Thursday, where Euromarina will host a lively parade spotlighting all the international teams alongside representatives of the Autonomous Communities of Spain.
As the regatta concludes, Sunday’s trophy ceremony promises to be a grand spectacle, with the whole sailing family participating. Awaiting guests of honour are the Mayor of Torrevieja, the Regional Minister of Tourism, and authorities who enable this international event that promotes grassroots sports. This embracing party paints a beautiful picture of the integration of technology, fierce competition, and communal bond, all encapsulated in the love for sailing.
