Riding the high tides of Sentosa Cove in Singapore, John Pollard, the British sailing maestro, gave a stellar performance at the SB20 Asian Continental Championship. This not only solidified his formidable reputation but also set up an exciting stage for the much-anticipated SB20 World Championships. The sportsboat fleet, steeped in talent and experience, witnessed a display of exceptional seamanship, strategy, and sportsmanship. All eyes are steadily trained on the upcoming World Championship, the first to be hosted in Southeast Asia, with an impressive international contingent of 45 fleets involved.

Adding flair to the competition, there’s the French wunderkind Xavier Rohart, crewing for Ed Russo, the seasoned class loyalist, and Ukrainian sailor George Leonchuk, partnered with Paolo Borghesi. Not just relying on veterans, there is a wave of new talent with young sailors keen to take the prestigious SB20 podium.

Only three days of the SB20 Asian Continental Championship have now passed, yet they prove to be a valuable litmus test, offering glimpses into the form the main event could take. John Pollard shone brightly, pulling impressive leads, setting his boat, Xcellent, on a promising trajectory.
