The Lanzarote International Regatta of 2025 sees Hungarian sailor Jonatan Vadnai dominating the ILCA 7 racing, marking an early noteworthy lead.

The sun rose over the Atlantic, illuminating the Lanzarote waters as the 2025 International Regatta set sail, alive with the energetic anticipation of a thrilling race ahead. At the heart of the action was Hungarian sailor, Jonatan Vadnai, who showcased his skill in the physically challenging ILCA 7 racing series, securing two race wins and a second place. He deftly maneuvered through 12 to 17 knots of breeze, charging Atlantic waves, and abundant Canarian sunshine, to firmly set himself as the frontrunner. The Spanish team of Silvia Mas and Alex Marsans also made quite a splash, claiming the early lead in the 470 Mixed fleet. The spanking new team exhibited a prodigious partnership against veteran competitors such as Diogo Costa and Carolina Joao of Portugal and the Italian Olympian Elena Berta along with her crew-mate Giulio Calabro. Marsans hailed the day as a tough but encouraging testament to their nascent collaboration. They acknowledged their need to fine-tune certain aspects, but overall the team was confident about the progress they’d made in the short span of their training together. Among the younger participants in the event, there were several who boldly challenged the seasoned competitors, gaining invaluable experience on the waters where they are set to compete in the ILCA 7 Under-21 World Championship of 2026. As the day wound down, amidst the camaraderie and sea-spray, Marina Rubicón was abuzz with tales of extraordinary sailing conditions and unison in the joy of competition. All in all, the Lanzarote International Regatta of 2025 proved an exhilarating tableau of sailboat racing, setting an extraordinarily high bar for future matches.
