Unprecedented Collaboration: Rickmansworth Sailing Club Leverages Lakeside Collaboration to Support Local Community

Published: 22 Feb 2025
In a heartening show of community spirit, the Rickmansworth Sailing Club (RSC) has extended a lifebuoy to the struggling Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre (HOAC).

Navigating the tranquil waters of community collaboration, the Rickmansworth Sailing Club (RSC) has charted a course towards mutual support by lending a hand - or perhaps more aptly, a sail - to the Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre (HOAC). In case you’ve been below deck, HOAC has met a squall of difficulties in its quest to relocate. However, demonstrating the close-knit nature of their respective communities, RSC has hoisted the distressed outdoor centre aboard, providing refuge at the crystal-clear Troy Lake.

At the helm of it all, Amy Francis, the esteemed Commodore of RSC, expressed eagerness over the partnership, citing the important role of outdoor activities in fostering camaraderie and rapport with nature. The collaboration, she hinted, will also stimulate the development of their new clubhouse, a facility envisaged to enrich the experience of every member part of the RSC community.

Casting their anchor at Troy Lake, HOAC intends to continue imparting their outdoor experiences, in particular, teaching sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Grateful for the support, Neil Maddock, Centre Principal of HOAC, conveyed that this convergence would ensure continued contributions to the local community. Despite still working on their relocation plans, the collaboration has doused any uncertainty that threatened to engulf them.

Opportunities are now open seas wide for those interested in enrolling for these courses, with more information available on the HOAC website. Likewise, the Rickmansworth Sailing Club invites sea enthusiasts to explore membership opportunities and ride the wave of camaraderie that binds their club together.
