World Sailing Celebrates Female Sailors with 2025 Championship at Chicago Yacht Club

The sailing world holds its breath in anticipation as the Chicago Yacht Club prepares to host the 2025 Women’s Match Racing World Championship. This announcement by World Sailing marks a momentous occasion in women’s sailing, and promises an electrifying display of talent from the world’s leading female sailors from 16-20 September 2025.

Adding grandeur to the occasion, the Championship will be held at the club’s Belmont Station, and will feature up to 12 teams inside the sleek hulls of the Tom28. A 28-foot, one-design boat that is a testament to engineering finesse, it is specifically engineered for these high-stakes, high-thrill races. As the Notice of Race has been published and open for public scrutiny, the excitement is palpable.

Building on their illustrious legacy, the Chicago Yacht Club, celebrating its 150th anniversary, is honoured to support this landmark event in women’s sailing, as pointed out by Member and Regatta Chair, Jen Dorsch. The prestigious 2024 Championship was held at the Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina, where the Normandy Elite Team secured their victory with an unbroken streak of 21 wins.
