An Intrepid Duo's Breathtaking Nautical Journey from Spain to Australia's Shimmering Shores.
On their journey of almost 14,000 nautical miles across the globe, Elizabeth Tucker and Cole Brauer are turning maritime journeying into an art form. Back in November, they set sail from Spain aboard the spectacular Class 40 yacht, ‘First Light’, the destination – Sydney, where they are expected to arrive in the latter half of February.
The expedition isn’t void of action and suspense. Challenge after challenge, from food poisoning to minor damage on the yacht’s keel due to a collision, the duo has been resilient in the face of adversity. As they covered 9,000 nautical miles, they found themselves around 45 degrees South and 57 East, near the remote French-dominated Kerguelen Islands in the Southern Ocean.
Always looking on the bright side, Brauer and Tucker find joy in the smallest things, even during this demanding journey. Yearning for a simple cucumber sandwich, they take solace in the fact there’s at least one cucumber aboard - a beautiful reminder that there’s a thin line between luxury and the simple pleasures of life.
There’s a lot of water yet to cover before they dock at Sydney Harbour. The hardy seafarers will continue their adventurous journey, confronting the might of the seas, drifting towards realms where shimmering horizons dance in tandem with roaring waves.6 Their tale is one of resilience, tenacity, relishing life’s simple pleasures, and most importantly, embracing the spirit of adventure.
