Cantieri di Pisa Unveils Striking Redesign of Classic Akhir 44m Model
Cantieri di Pisa, the renowned Italian shipyard, delivered a striking blow at the Dubai International Boat Show by unveiling the exquisite interiors of their redesigned Akhir 44 model. This revolutionary redesign was handed over to the capable hands of Italian designer Antonio Luxardo, tasked with a challenging balance of preserving the brand’s historic legacy while steering it towards the future of nautical technology and environmental sustainability.
The pioneering Akhir line reached the zenith of its fame back in the 90s. The legacy returns with the Akhir 44, its carbon fibre composite structure crowned by an impressive ‘wave-piercing’ EHPH Power Fin hull. The lush interiors of this magnificent vessel owe their brilliance to a collaboration with Pulina Exclusive Interiors, a design studio also reputed for their work on the distinguished 38.2-metre K+ by Maori Yacht and the grand 62-meter CRN superyacht Rio.
This drive for innovation is reflected in their novel approach to space utilization. The spacious main deck prioritizes guests, introducing a retractable dining area with sliding panels that allow for an adaptable experience. The design renders two dining configurations; a reserved, formal setup and an open, interactive layout that enhances the onboard culinary experiences.
Design quirks like a floating staircase, made from metal and glass, act as the sculptural nucleus within the saloon. Accommodations include four plush guest cabins and an owner’s suite, all strategically located on the lower deck.
The exterior design preserves key features from the earlier Akhir line such as narrow deckhouse lines, distinct strip windows, ‘shark-like’ bow decoration, horizontal-grid air intakes, and the striking black and white livery. Expected to cruise at a speed of 30 knots while capable of reaching a maximum speed of 35 knots, the Akhir 44 is outfitted with powered waterjets.
Currently, the Pisa facilities house two yachts under-construction, the 80 Veloce and a 37.5-metre custom model. With this introduction, Cantieri di Pisa reinstates its commitment to elevating design, combining heritage with a vision for the future.
